"Every day brings a chance to live free of regret and with as much joy, fun and laughter as you can stand." --Oprah Winfrey
It's officially summer and a lot of us are making plans for a much needed vacation. I'll be heading off on Thursday to enjoy the 4th of July weekend and vacation with friends.
What with the price of gas, airline fares and limited budgets, luckily I made my travel plans before the big surge!
If you are still on the fence about what to do for vacation in this year of rising prices for all modes of travel and a week is too long, too expensive or too frustrating to plan, why not consider a "day-cation"?
It may be that a "day-cation" is exactly what you need. Take a day to rejuvenate until the economy reaches a point where you can consider that week long cruise or trip to Europe :). You don't have
to wait to enjoy what's already available to you.
Here are some ideas for a "day-cation":
- Indulge in half-day spa treatments at you local spa
- Take a stroll around your neighborhood, chat with your neighbors
- Explore nearby museums or art galleries
- Take in a free concert in the park as you dine al fresco
- Sit quietly under a tree in your favorite park reading a book
- Visit one of the landmarks in your city that you never seem to find time for
- Invite friends and family for a cookout (don't cook - order in)
- Go bowling with friends - it's energizing and a lot of fun!
- Reserve tickets to that play you want to see
- Plan and dream of your extended vacation, dream of where you want to go, collect pictures and quotes to inspire you.
Enjoy your "day-cation" and if you can, take several "day-cations" throughout the summer. Any day you spend away from responsibilities, obligations and chores is a good day!
