I work in a large health/beauty store and appearance is extremely important. Its actually in our contract that all employees much turn up to work well presented. I actually really think its a good thing, as its shows we have pride in what we do and customers know what to expect of us.
I think it?s important in any job to have good hygiene and be presentable. In your kind of work, you are sort of selling yourself to the customers, so it doesn?t surprise me that they put that in the contract. I?ve worked behind the scenes in a job where all I did was take accident reports for an insurance company, but I still went in looking nice because it was important to me what my co-workers thought. As a waitress, of course I looked good, I wanted tips. Even as a CNA taking care of the elderly, I want to look nice and be nice. Everyone likes someone who cares about their appearance. If they care about themselves, they might be very likely to care about you.

What is the question? but i got out from it is that being clean at work really is important. I mean like nobody wants to be around someone who doesn?t wash or anything which is SO gross. You are right it is important!
You actually answered your own question. I would just like to add: In all sales, packaging is half the sale. Always. So when you look good in your store, the store looks good, and the products look good. Good Luck.

Well just think, if you walk into a health and beauty store and everyone looks really bad, what would you think about the store? Would you want to buy anything from there? First impressions are extremely important because that is a major part whether the customer wants to purchase something at your store or not. Once the customer feels comfortable (ex. when the store is clean, and everyone looks presentable and is nice) then they would want to purchase something and come again. I agree with you too, it is a great thing because it shows that you have great potential, and are great at what you do. I think its a good idea to have that put in your contract.
