Adversity ? SDWnet - Business Consulting Blog

?Calamity is the test of integrity.? ?-Samuel Richardson

Samuel Richardson (1689 ? 1761) was an 18th-century English printer and writer. He was an established printer and publisher for most of his life and printed almost 500 different works, including journals and magazines. Because he had no male heirs, he let his print shop slowly run down, and at the age of 51 he wrote his first novel, and immediately became one of the most popular and admired writers of his time.

Calamity and adversity affect us all.? Things rarely go as planned ? but that could be more opportunity than calamity.? And life is hard ? but adversity makes us stronger, more creative and often times better.? We learn a great deal from these kinds of hardships ? and in this learning there?s a test of who we are.? These are tough economic times ? but that?s no reason to give up. These are difficult and confusing political times ? but that?s no reason to drop out of your civic responsibilities. These are challenging personal times ? but that?s no reason to stop being kind and personable.? How we act in hard times says a lot about the kind of person we are and what we?re made of.? And this shows whether we have any real integrity.? Remember that and do what?s needed today to pass this important test.
