Apple has filed a patent for new technology that will prevent iPhone users from filming live concerts with their devices.
The way it will work is that when you hold up your camera phone at a concert, infared sensors will detect what you are trying to do and automatically disable the camera phone option. You will, however, still be able to make phone calls and send texts.
This will surely draw the interest of concert promoters frustrated by patrons who record the footage and then post it to the Internet for those who did not attend. More importantly, it just might make the overall concert-going experience less annoying as people won't be so quick to hoist their phones in the air and block your view.
Still, is Apple crossing the line by dictating how and when iPhone users use their phones?
Apple is also hoping that the technology will help them negotiate deals with record labels to sell content through iTunes.
If the patent were to go through, would it stop you from using and/or buying an iPhone?
